3rd ANNUAL TRANSFORMER SILENT AUCTION & BENEFIT PARTY

NOVEMBER 4, 2006

Hosted at Edison Place Gallery – 8th & G Streets, NW

Transformer proudly presents The 3rd Annual Transformer Silent Auction & Benefit Party taking place Saturday, November 4, 2006 from 7–10pm at the Edison Place Gallery – 8th & G Streets, NW. This very special one-night only event features a dynamic array of over 100 artworks in various mediums, dimensions and prices by more than 80 of DC’s leading emerging and established artists.

Transformer’s Annual Auctions have proven to be incredibly exciting. They provide a wonderful opportunity for collectors, artists and arts enthusiasts, as well as an incredibly fun party! Proceeds benefit Transformer’s exhibitions and programs, supporting emerging art and artists. Last year’s Auction hosted by Fusebox reached sold out attendance a week before the event. The 3rd Annual Transformer Silent Auction & Benefit Party 11.4.06 will be the best yet – get your ticket today!

Attendance is $75 if received by 10.23.06 and $100 at the door. All ticketed guests will receive a bidding number at the event. Silent auction bidding will take place from 7–9:30 pm. Auction lots will begin to close at 9:30 pm. Cash and check sales only. All works sold at the auction are to be taken that night.

In addition to viewing and bidding on a unique mix of artworks, patrons will also enjoy delicious complimentary hors d’oeuvres from Bar Pilar, Cafe Saint-EX, Jaleo, Perry's and Viridian restaurants; complimentary wine & beer from Buck’s Fishing & Camping and Comet Ping-Pong; and beats by Dj Phoenix Crane and Djs Yellow Fever.

Now in its fifth year of operations, Transformer is a dynamic arts organization, continually furthering its mission to connect and promote emerging visual artists locally, nationally and internationally. Since Transformer’s inception, the organization has presented over thirty comprehensive exhibitions showcasing the work of more than 500 artists - many of whom have gone on to achieve incredible success in their young careers. Recognized as a leader in the visual arts field, Transformer is one of a select group of organizations awarded participation in The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Art’s Warhol Initiative, as well as the DC Commission on the Arts’ UPSTART program, and was recently awarded first time funding from the Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation!

Proceeds from The 3rd Annual transformer Silent Auction & Benefit Party will match these recent awards, directly supporting artists through artist honoraria, exhibition material costs, development and production of a five-year anniversary catalogue documenting the remarkable artists Transformer has presented and supported through exhibitions and programs. Auction proceeds will also support artists through the funding of Transformer programs such as The Exercises, a peer-mentorship program for emerging artists, as well as The Framework Panel Series and Transformer’s Professional Development Workshop Series.
