Transformer’s Annual FlatFile Storefront Exhibition

Transformer is pleased to present Apricity, a winter exhibition of artworks from Transformer’s FlatFile Program curated by Camille DeSanto, Transformer’s Exhibitions & Programs Coordinator.

About the exhibition
Launched in spring 2007, Transformer’s FlatFile is a growing and ever-changing collection of 400+ works by 40+ artists. All works are 2D, sized 16 x 20 or smaller, and priced at $500 and below. Created to support a broad range of emerging DC based artists in tandem with their global peers presented in Transformer’s Exhibition Series, Transformer’s evolving FlatFile collection features original artworks and limited print editions. FlatFile artists receive 70% of all art sale proceeds.
Apricity - meaning the warmth of the sun in wintertime - will highlight artworks from Transformer’s FlatFile program that convey joyful bursts of color and holiday cheer this winter. Curated by Transformer’s Programs and Exhibitions Coordinator Camille DeSanto, Apricity is inspired by photographer Slim Aaron’s Snowmass Picnic photographs made in 1960s Aspen, which depict sunny winter days, bright, cheery pops of color, and gatherings of friends and loved ones.
Join Transformer on December 16 from 1 - 4pm as we launch Apricity with a winter holiday celebration in collaboration with Logan Circle Main Street and peer local businesses. Transformer will be hosting a winter holiday open house featuring hot cocoa and cookies, along with a sidewalk sale of FlatFile artworks.
