Transformer is honored to present bay sick: an excursion of perversion, an exhibition of new artworks by Baltimore, MD based artist Felipe Pereira Gonçalves.
With this exhibition, Gonçalves will be exploring the discomfort and joy of coming-of-age. Using different mediums, techniques, and humor, he creates an interactive environment designed to induce nostalgia and self-reflection. Like the light from a deep-sea anglerfish, Gonçalves’s work entices viewers to enter a world that is normally obscured by reason and fear. Death, childhood, and glitter are nostalgic devices meant to leave one giggling in the face of terror.
Graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2004, Felipe Pereira Gonçalves has exhibited in San Francisco and Berkley, CA, and around the greater Baltimore/DC region. This is his first DC solo exhibition. His work was featured in the New American Paintings #100 and Beautiful Decay #7 publications.
